White Lioness Clings to Life After Buffalo Attack in Remarkable Recovery

Recently, we shared a sighting of a lioness of the Birmingham pride that appeared badly injured. Ngala Private Game Reserve have been keeping an eye on her and has given a positive update on her well-being!

Ngala Private Game Reserve

An adult white lioness from the Birmingham Pride was recently injured by a buffalo during a hunt, sustaining a deep wound from her chest to under her front leg.

SANParks section rangers and the &Beyond Ngala Conservation team darted the lioness for TB testing and to treat the injury. She was given a 10% chance of survival but has since shown strong signs of recovery and continues to move with most of her pride.

Both SANParks and Ngala teams are continuing to monitor her condition closely.

Young Lions Test Their Hunting Skills on Impala but Come Up Short

By Mark Fox - Exploring Kruger

Mark Fox from Exploring Kruger had an incredible morning with a pride of lions last week. After spending some time watching them, a herd of impala wandered a little too close. One young lion decided to take a chance and launched a hunt, but it failed.

Surprisingly, the impala didn’t move too far, allowing another youngster to try his luck. Unfortunately, his timing was also off, and he chased the herd away, returning to the pride empty-handed.

Myth: Pet insurance doesn’t cover everything

Many pet owners worry that insurance won’t cover everything, especially routine care or pre-existing conditions. While that’s true in many cases, most insurers now offer wellness add-ons for preventive care like vaccines, dental cleanings, and check-ups, giving you more complete coverage. View Money’s pet insurance list to find plans for as low as $10 a month.
