Male Lion Kills Cub While Female Tries to Save It

A heartbreaking encounter played out on the S3 this weekend, leaving onlookers saddened.

By Herman Steynberg

Herman Steynberg witnessed a devastating scene when a male lion attacked his own cub. The pride, consisting of a male, a female, and their young, was resting peacefully near the road when the cub wandered off. Suddenly, the male charged and caught the cub while the lioness desperately tried to protect it. She was unable to stop him as he killed the cub and began eating it. Afterwards, she quietly crossed the road and disappeared into the bush.
