A peaceful feeding turned chaotic when a male lion stormed in at Arathusa Safari Lodge, but the hyenas weren’t about to let one of their members go down without a fight.

A massive male lion ambushed a clan of hyenas feeding on an old kill at Arathusa Safari Lodge, grabbing one unlucky hyena in a powerful grip. Still, in a remarkable show of loyalty and teamwork, the entire clan rushed back in, biting and distracting the lion until he released their trapped clanmate, allowing it to escape.
