A lone lioness pursued and successfully brought down a zebra in a scintillating chase filmed by Francis Kijazi in the Masai Mara.

Lionesses generally prefer to hunt in groups because it increases their chances of a successful kill. This is especially true with larger or more powerful prey like zebras.

However, lone lionesses do hunt zebra on their own, though it’s less common and often driven by necessity rather than preference.

A herd of elephants rallied alongside a baby elephant to help it get out of a muddy hole in an incredible sighting witnessed by Jolandi De Klerk in the Addo Elephant Park.
